Andrew Sandson allegedly went into the store at 759 Suffolk Ave. and handed a note to an employee at the counter at around 9:30 p.m. Sunday night, June 16 which said he had a gun and to give him cash, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.
The employee complied, giving Sandson money from the store's cash register, said police.
Sandson then exited the store, got into a car, and left the scene, according to the report.
No gun was displayed during the robbery and no one was injured, police said.
A customer in the store made note of the car’s license plate number, according to police.
The plate was traced to a Uber that had driven Sandson to his residence, located at 77 Grant Ave. in Brentwood, police said.
The Uber driver was not involved in the robbery, according to police.
Sandson, 57, was arrested at his residence at 10:11 p.m. and charged with third-degree robbery, said the report.
He remained in jail overnight at the Third Precinct and is due in Central Islip court Monday, June 17.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
